What is the hybrid system under the hood of the 2018 Toyota Prius?

The 2018 Prius comes standard with a 1.8L, 4-cylinder gas engine, capable of 71 hp and 120 lb.-ft. of torque. The conventional gas engine is couple with a battery-powered electric motor that adds to the car's output, and can even drive the car on its own power for short distances at slower speeds. The battery recharges whenever the car brakes or coasts, minimizing the amount of energy wasted while driving and ensuring the electric motor has a steady supply of power. This hybrid system is how the Prius achieves its legendary fuel efficiency. All the 2018 Prius models are rated for at least 54 mpg in the city and 50 mpg on the highway, with an Eco model that is rated at an astounding 58 mpg in the city and 53 mpg on the highway.

What technology is available in the Toyota Prius?

Toyota prides itself on being on of the leaders in innovation in the automotive industry, and the 2018 Prius that we have on the lot here at Johnstons Toyota is no exception. With the Entune™ Audio and Bluetooth® connectivity, integrated backup camera, and smart-flow climate control system all standard on every model, you'll ride the streets of Monroe in style and comfort. Often, when you choose a vehicle for its excellent fuel efficiency, you're forced to compromise on other things you need, like storage
capacity or seating. But despite the legendary fuel efficiency of the Prius models that we have here on the lot at Johnstons Toyota, the 2018 Prius is not a miniaturized vehicle. The hybrid technology enables the car to perform at the top of its class while offering a large trunk
space, with the option of folding down the spacious rear seats in a 60/40 split, leaving with you plenty of flexibility to pack your car to fit your every need. When not folded down, the rear seat allows more than enough room for up to five people in the car, including the driver, meaning you can get your loved ones wherever they need to go, whether it's in Goshen or beyond.
